Kathleen Hays

Kathleen Hays is one of the top economics reporters and anchors in the country, having covered the U.S. economy and the Federal Reserve for more than 20 years on television and radio, as well as in print and electronic media.  She hosts The Hays Advantage on Bloomberg Radio, a program that covers the economic and political forces driving the U. S. and global economies and the global markets.  She previously served as economics correspondent for CNN, appearing weekly on "On the Story", anchoring "The Flipside" and "CNN Money Morning" on CNNfn, and writing "Hayswire" for CNNMoney.com. She also served as economics editor for CNBC, including appearing daily on "Business Insiders" and serving on the "Squawk Box" team.  She has also worked at Market News International, Reuters, and Investor's Business Daily.


 



  Forum 2013 Speaker Dennis Lockhart

Dennis Lockhart

Dennis Lockhart is the president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, where he is responsible for all the bank's activities, including monetary policy, bank supervision and regulation, and payment services.  He also serves on the Federal Reserve's chief monetary policy body, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC).  He has held various positions, both domestic and international, with Citicorp/Citibank (now Citigroup) and served as president of Heller International Group, which had activities in commercial finance and merchant banking in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.  He has chaired the Advisory Committee of the U.S. Export-Import Bank and chaired the World Affairs Council of Atlanta.  he currently serves as a director of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.

Mike Randle 

Mike Randle founded the Birmingham Business Journal and the South's most prominent business and economic development publication, Southern Business & Development.  He has also launched four thriving websites:  SB-D.com, SouthernAutoCorridor.com, SmallTownSouth.com, and RandleReport.com, and plans to launch GrowtheSouth.com this December.  He has been featured or quoted in more than 800 local newspapers and has been quoted or featured by CNN, Time, ABC News, NBC News, Fox News, CNBC, MSNBC, PBS, The Huffington Post, Bloomberg, Yahoo, Al Jazeera, BBC, The Wall Street Journal, The Weekly Standard, USA Today, The New York Times, and The Boston Globe.  He has been described by Fred Barnes of Fox News and The Weekly Standard as "an expert on the Southern economy."








Mayor Todd Strange

Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange is a longtime businessman known for his progressive leadership. As a former director of the Alabama Development Office, he collaborated on efforts to bring major industries to Alabama, including the Hyundai Manufacturing Facility. He is a former chairman of the Montgomery County Commission and Montgomery’s Riverfront Development Committee. He is the former president, chief executive officer, and co-owner of the Blount Strange Automotive Group Inc. He is a member of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Mayor Strange has and continues to be involved in a variety of civic and community activities. Past activities include serving as the president for the Muscle Shoals Area Chamber of Commerce, the Montgomery United Way, and on the Board of Directors for the Montgomery American Red Cross.

Mark Vitner

Mark Vitner is managing director and senior economist at Wells Fargo, responsible for tracking U.S. and regional economic trends.  Based in Charlotte, he also writes for the company's Monthly Economic Outlook report, the Weekly Economics & Financial Commentary, and provides regular updates on the housing market, commercial real estate, regional economies, and inflation.  His commentary has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and many other publications.  He is a member of the National Association of Business Economists and co-founded its Charlotte chapter, The Charlotte Economics Club.  He serves as a distinguished lecturer and practitioner at the University of Georgia.  He also currently serves on the Joint Advisory Board of Economists for the Commonwealth of Virginia.
